The Role:

We are looking for a Power Management Architect to join a small but growing Microprocessor Architecture Performance team in advancing the art of high performance & highly scalable computer architecture. The role provides a wonderful opportunity to innovate and develop new architectures that scale to Cloud Native & Data Center centric usage.

The Ampere Architecture Group team turns ideas into reality. We are a group of technologists with tremendous experience shipping dozens of server products at multiple semiconductor companies. By listening to customers, driving industry standard protocols, and designing high-performance IPs and SoCs, Architects push products forward past the bleeding edge of microprocessor design. Architects are resourceful, and craft well-tuned designs to meet ecosystem requirements in a timely cadence, ultimately delighting Ampere’s cloud customers.

What You Will Do:

• Ideal candidate is a team player and collaborator who works with people of varying skill levels since power management techniques flow across subsystems.
• Build new capabilities suited to enable Power Management Architectures for cloud native use cases.
• Work with power analysis team and device features and capabilities that improve energy proportionality and improve overall chip/subsystem performance.
• Develop and prototype ideas and tests them on real silicon
• Develop models or spreadsheets to vet out ideas.
• Facilitate design development efforts and work with pre-si and post-si validation teams to deliver high quality product.
• Create and maintain technical documents including architecture specifications, implementation guides, and user guides
• Collaborate with the team from product roadmap to design implementation
• Balance features, performance, and costs to create a solution with high value and optimal use of physical resources

What You’ll Bring:

• An understanding of SoC architectures and its relevant workloads.
• Knowledge of architectural techniques for saving power through HW/FW/SW co-design.
• Comfortable in C++, python, and scripting languages
• Prior work on low level power analysis (subsystem/SoC Level) would be a bonus.
• Prior work on embedded architectures would be useful.
• Prior work with machine learning techniques would also be useful.
• Great communication skills; comfortable with reaching out and asking questions. This is the most important qualification!
• Ability to learn and grow; one of the foundational principles of Ampere.

Education:

• Bachelor’s in EE/CE/CS with 8+ year related experience, or
• Master’s in EE/CE/CS with 6+ year related experience, or
• PhD in EE/CE/CS with 3+ year related experience
